Carrie brings over a decade of expertise in architectural lighting design to Hartranft Lighting Studios. Her journey into lighting began with a foundation in sculpture, where she explored the interplay of light and form through illuminated sculptures and large-scale light installations. This passion led her to earn an MFA in Architectural Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design in 2010, launching her career in the field.

Carrie has gained a wealth of experience as a project manager, lead designer, and educator. Dedicated to inspiring the next generation of designers, she joined the University of Tennessee as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor in 2015, later becoming an Adjunct Professor in 2022. She is committed to promoting lighting design as a dynamic and impactful career path for younger generations.

For Carrie, the magic of lighting lies in its ability to transform spaces and objects, breathing life into them in ways far beyond the value of the fixtures themselves. Her thoughtful approach to lighting design emphasizes its ability to shape emotions, experiences, and environments.

Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and AGi32, Carrie continuously seeks to expand her expertise in lighting products, emerging technologies, design software, collaborative techniques, leadership, and client engagement. Her passion for innovation and dedication to her craft make her a vital contributor to the field of
architectural lighting design and our growing team at HLS.
