Tiana’s career began over 15 years ago in a dark theatre with a ghost light. She has spent over the last 10 years freelancing in a variety of theatrical spaces combining her sharp visual sensibility with technical expertise to craft lighting solutions that are both striking and sustainable. She balances creativity and ingenuity with a love for detail and paperwork.
Tiana has always found herself drawn to everyday spaces and the stories they tell. This is why she selected the University of Florida’s MFA program when continuing her education in lighting, because the program emphasized theatrical design, as well as architectural and museum lighting design. She approaches each project with a focus on enhancing the atmosphere through thoughtful, efficient lighting design and enhancing communication.
During the pandemic she expanded her professional reach to include project management within the electrical contracting realm where she coordinated national electrical installs in hospitals, working closely with owners, contractors, and other trades to help facilitate on time schedules and exceed stakeholders’ expectations.
Tiana has maintained a presence in higher education—teaching everywhere from local community colleges to well-established private and public universities. Contributing to the development of future designers, artisans, technicians, and tradespeople is one of her lifelong passions. She is committed to giving back, inspired by the mentors who invested in her growth and opened doors that allowed her to thrive
