Washington, DC, October 25, 2023 — Hartranft Lighting Design is thrilled to announce the acquisition of Gilmore Lighting Design, a firm that will help expand our client reach, capabilities, and resources.
Additionally, Gilmore Lighting Design founder, Debra Gilmore joins our team as Design and Business Development Collaborator. Robert Smith assumes his role as Senior Lighting Designer with Hartranft.
Debra Gilmore is an award-winning lighting design industry leader with a career spanning four decades. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Environmental Design from Parsons School of Design, launched her professional career in New York City, and founded Gilmore Lighting Design in 1997. Debra has an extensive and diverse portfolio, spanning several market segments. Notable projects include:

Robert Smith earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Interior Environments from Virginia Commonwealth University. He then served as Administrative Director for the Department of Interior Design. In 2018, Rob shifted his focus to the practice of lighting design when he joined Gilmore Lighting Design. We are excited to welcome him to HLD where his strong design and technical expertise will be put to good use.
