Paula Ziegenbein Conducts Seminars at Lightfair 2019

HLD Senior Consultant Paula Ziegenbein will be conducting two seminars on May 22 at LIGHTFAIR® International 2019 in Philadelphia, PA.  LIGHTFAIR® International 2019 is the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference.

IoT Connected Lighting: A Design Guide

• Course Description: IoT Connected lighting systems provide challenges as well as opportunities for the Design Team and Owner. The IES has recently formed a new IoT Connected Lighting Committee to create a Design Guide to assist with planning. Lighting has the ability to take on a key role in developing a connected space. This session will review opportunities for connected light in typical project environments; discuss the lighting designer’s enhanced role as well as providing a knowledge base on technology options and features. Additionally, we will uncover steps to take in the planning process, discuss potential pitfalls and include a case study on a realized project.

  • Identify key players and roles in an IoT connected project.
  • Analyze goals and objectives for the use of connected light systems and develop a Sequence of Operations for the Owner.
  • Explore required components for a connected light system and how to integrate them with the design team.
  • Investigate strategies for teamwork on connected light projects.

Keeping Up with Change - Annual Industry Update

• Course Description: As the industry has changed and as developments in traditional technologies have all but halted, it’s become increasingly more important to provide an update paying particular attention to SSL technologies and their application, both as retrofits and complete luminaire systems, with control integration. This panel of experts will cover important developments since Lightfair 2018, provide insight, and share projections about future implementation of these and emerging technologies.
• Learning Objectives: 
  • Analyze new offerings in LED replacement lamps, integrated LED luminaires, and lighting controls, along with emerging trends with respect to systems integration.
  • Summarize the pertinent lighting industry developments since Lightfair 2018.
  • Gain insight regarding lighting trends and the future of the industry.
  • Appraise implications of standards and codes for SSL systems and identify third party, non-commercial sources of information.
